The WEH Foundation is a 501(c)3 private family foundation that supports exploring new ideas in education. We like the idea of doing things a little differently. We believe in looking at the big picture and supporting action that makes a difference in STEAM education — making change one step at a time.  We want to help students get the most out of school — and life.

William Hixson inspired and funded the Foundation. He was an entrepreneur, who always saw himself as a mentor.  In retirement, he dedicated his time to improving education.  The idea of a Foundation began during this time — an idea that was further developed by his daughter, Lauren Hinds, to honor his memory.

Our focus is serving the communities between the California Bay Area and Reno, Nevada.  If you or your organization is within that region and your work falls within one of our three causes, we can’t wait to hear what you’re working on!
